Thrive along with me!
I just got a great new book written by a couple of physicians (Dr. Ronald Klatz and Dr. Robert Goldman) who are the President and Chairman, respectively, of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Did you know there was such a group? I didn’t until recently, but I’m hoping it will be a real source of good longevity-boosting information.
Having a goal of reaching 105 is one thing, but thinking I can make the goal without help is setting myself up for failure. I’ve been kind of lucky so far. Three out of four of my grandparents lived into their 80’s, even with COPD, heart attacks and strokes. Both my parents are in their middle 70’s with no life-threatening conditions at this point (or at least none that aren’t self-imposed). I’ve had no serious illness or hospitalizations, except for having babies. Most recently, I have been made aware of a problem I have with acid reflux, which affects my heart palpitations. But that’s for another blog another day. I haven’t abused my body over the years and have tried to follow a fairly healthy lifestyle (except for the dessert-eating thing….I just can’t seem to get a handle on that!).
But now there is this whole new wealth of attention being paid to and information being gathered about the process of aging and how we can delay it; and I have to admit that it’s all very, very intriguing to me! Of course, knowing the information and actually doing something about it are the key…walking the walk, not just talking the talk. If, in my learning and knowing, I can share it with others and be an example of how it can be of benefit, that will be awesome…and what this blog was intended to do!
So hopefully, you’ll come back often or hit the little RSS feed button to keep abreast of what the experts are saying, what I’m doing and learning, and how you can thrive along with me!
“To know how to grow old is the master work of wisdom, and one of the most difficult chapters in the great art of living.” Henri Frederic Amiel (Swiss philosopher)
